How can the Children's Law Center help? |
Here are some important numbers:
If someone is hurting you, call:
Police - 911
CPS - Child Protective Services 1-800-767-2445
Childhelp USA - 1-800-422-4453
If you and your family do not get along:
If you and your family don't get along and your parents are willing to let you live with your friend's family,
have your friend's mom and/or dad call us at 602-258-3434 x 266. If they cannot afford an attorney and are
eligible for help through us, we can help this family obtain legal standing over you with your parent's permission.
This will allow you to live with and be cared for by your friend's family and this will allow the family to get you
into school and take you to the doctor and take care of your daily needs. Your parents are still your parents, but
this new family will care for you from day to day. If you have civil legal questions, call us at 602-258-3434 x 266.
This means any legal questions that are not criminal. Legal questions about your job, school, guardianship, child
support, divorce, buying used cars, contracts, social security benefits, etc. Not criminal questions about guns, drunk
driving, jail, etc. We have volunteer attorneys who provide free advice.
If your parents are going through a divorce:
If your parents are getting a divorce and if things are going on that make you unhappy or uncomfortable, or if your
parents are not taking care of you...let the court know. In some cases, the court can appoint an attorney to represent
your best interests.
